George Pringle Poppy Display

Categories: News

Considering Remembrance Sunday is not far away, FONFA is proud to have been donated a special Poppy display.

The display comes from Canada and dates from 2010.

It was created by the then pupils of The George Pringle Elementary School, West Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. The school is named after Flying Officer George Pringle, and it was donated to FONFA, as George is buried in the local St Mary church in Bransgore

I found this section of text from the article of interest.

“The characteristics that defined George Pringle in his work as a minister and as a flying officer – commitment to serving community and country – are ones that the school board has been promoting since 1949 when the first high school opened and will continue to promote when the new George Pringle Senior Secondary opens next fall.

“A lot of the work done at that school since 1949 also exemplifies those characteristics. And those are the characteristics we want to instil in our community and in our children,” she noted.

“We always hope in the moment we live in that it will be a continuing legacy of education and purpose and community, well, forever.”
